For a while now, the herb 'shatavari' has become famous worldwide especially in the west. Women in the west prefer this herb as it contains phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogen is a primary female sex hormone. According to studies conducted recently. This discovery has increased its popularity. Shatavari is an herb which is widely recommended in ayurveda. Since Vedic times Shatavari has been used for women's benefits. In addition to menopausal health, shatavari maintains a female's health through her various stages in life. Ayurvedic texts of ancient times state that shatavari is an herb which strengthens a woman so much that she is capable of producing thousands of healthy ova. The great commentator, Pandit Hem Raj Sharma stated that shatavari enhances breast milk secretion in lactating mothers.

Menopausal women often suffer from low natural estrogen hence; shatavari has its highest use among them as it contains phytoestrogen. Studies were conducted Ayurvedic labs in 2003 in Nepal and United States. These studies proved that shatavari is particularly helpful to manage menopausal syndrome symptoms such as hot flashes, insomnia, night sweat etc. This is mainly due to the fact that it contains phytoestrogen component.  Studies suggested that 80% of participants reported a great improvement in health especially reduction of disorders such as hot flashes, night sweating etc.

Benefits in Improving Female and Male Fertility

The herb shatavari is efficient to prepare female organs for pregnancy. If there were any threats during abortion the herb shatavari would help in minimizing or even negating the risks. In clinical studies performed, it is proven that a 90% of women have health pregnancy periods and deliveries. In addition, shatavari is also good for the fetus.  In addition to improving the female's health, shatavari is also improves male fertility. The sperm count of a male is increased and shatavari helps in producing a higher percentage of healthy sperm. Another study performs by the department of biology in Nepal shows that shatavari contains healing properties that can cure any urinary tract infections also. Other problems such as colic pain and blood in stool (piles) can also be cure cured.
